Order at the table · Australian cafes

They order from the table. Your kitchen sees it in a second.

A card on every table. Your customers scan it, order, and pay on their own phone. No app, no sign-up, no queue at the counter. The docket lands on your kitchen screen and rings until someone starts it.

  • No app to download
  • No card surcharges
  • Pay now or at the counter
  • Prices include GST

How it works

Live on your tables in an afternoon.

  1. Step 1

We load your menu and print your table cards.

Send us your menu, your logo and your table numbers. We set up milks, extras and sold‑out switches, print a card for every table, and sit with you for the first service.

  2. Step 2

Diners scan the card with their phone camera.

Your menu opens in their browser with the table already filled in. No app to install, no account, no password. Works on any iPhone or Android.

  3. Step 3

They order, add a note, and pay how they like.

Milk, size, extras, a note for the kitchen. Then Apple Pay, Google Pay or card on the phone, or send the order through and settle at the counter. Fees for weekends and public holidays are shown before they pay.

  4. Step 4

The docket is on your kitchen screen in about a second.

It rings until someone taps Start. Your staff make it and run it to the table number on the ticket. The diner's phone shows when it's on its way.

Why cafes switch

Shorter queues, faster tables, and a barista who can hear themselves think.

  • No queue at the counterCustomers sit down and order. The person on the till is free to make coffee.
  • Tables turn fasterNo waiting to order and no waiting to pay. Regulars in and out on their lunch break.
  • Bigger orders, fewer mistakesExtras and milks are a tap away, and the docket says exactly what was asked for.
  • Pay now or at the counterCard, Apple Pay and Google Pay on the phone, or the old way at the till. Both go to the kitchen.
  • One ticket per tableEvery docket carries the table number. Staff run it out instead of calling names.
  • Sold out in one tapTurn an item off and it leaves the menu that second. Turn it back on when the delivery lands.

The kitchen screen

Built for a bench in a rush, not a desk.

A dark board with paper dockets, readable from the pass. New orders ring until they're started. Every ticket shows how long it has waited and turns amber, then red. Notes like "no chorizo, allergy" are highlighted so they're impossible to miss.

  • All‑day tally: "4 Flat White, 2 Toastie" so the barista batches
  • Oldest ticket first, always
  • Recall a docket bumped by mistake
  • Works on any tablet or laptop with a browser
  • Keeps going when the Wi‑Fi drops; catches up when it's back

Fees and payment

Keep your weekends covered. Never surcharge a card.

Weekend and public holiday fees

Set a percentage for Saturdays, Sundays and Victorian public holidays. It's shown as its own line before the diner pays, never buried in the price.

No card surcharges, ever

Card surcharging is banned in Australia from 1 October 2026. Munchly never had it, so there's nothing to switch off and no fine to worry about.

Money goes straight to you

Online payments settle to your own Stripe account, usually the next business day. Counter payments never touch us at all.

Founding venues

We're launching with a handful of Melbourne cafes.

The first venues get set up in person, keep the founding price for as long as they stay, and shape what we build next. If your cafe has a counter queue at 8am, we'd like to talk.

Questions

The ones every cafe asks first.

Do my customers need an app?

No. The card opens your menu in their phone's browser. Nothing to install, no account, no password.

What do I need in the kitchen?

Any tablet or laptop with a browser and Wi‑Fi. Sign in once; it stays signed in. We recommend a stand and a charger by the pass, and we'll help set it up.

Where does the money go?

To your own Stripe account, usually the next business day. Munchly never holds your money and never takes a cut of your orders.

Can I change the menu myself?

Yes. Prices, items, milks and extras are yours to edit, and sold‑out items disappear from the menu the moment you turn them off.

What if the internet drops mid‑service?

The kitchen screen keeps what it has and catches up the moment the connection returns. Orders placed while it was down appear without anyone touching anything.
